💪 Breast Pumps
Your pump is your partner for the next 6-12 months. Don't cheap out here. Most insurance plans cover a pump under the ACA — check with your provider before buying.
Spectra S1 Plus — The gold standard for hospital-grade pumping at home. Rechargeable battery, closed system (hygienic), and the most customizable suction settings. Quiet enough for middle-of-the-night pumping.
Medela Pump in Style — Another excellent choice with decades of trust behind it. If you go Medela, get ALL matching Medela accessories. Mixing brands for flanges and parts causes seal issues and reduces output.
💡 Pro Tip: Whichever pump you choose, have at least 6-8 bottles ready to go. You'll be pumping and storing constantly, and running out of clean bottles at 2am is not fun. Get extras.
Haakaa Silicone Breast Pump — Not a replacement for your main pump, but a must-have companion. Suction it onto the other side while nursing and passively collect letdown milk. You'll be shocked how much "free" milk you catch. Get at least 2 (and 1 travel size).
Medela Hands-Free Pumping Bra — Tried several. This one is the most durable and actually stays in place. Register for 2 so you always have a clean one ready.
Bravado or CRZ YOGA Nursing Sleep Bra — Order 2-3 minimum. The best bras for all day, every day. Durable, soft, and affordable on Amazon. You'll live in these.
🧊 Breast Milk Storage
Your freezer stash is your safety net. Proper storage = no wasted milk. Here's what you need and what to know.
It's My Leche — Freeze-Dried Breast Milk — This is the future of breast milk storage. Instead of filling your freezer and worrying about power outages, freeze-drying converts your milk into shelf-stable powder that lasts up to 3 years at room temperature. Just add water to reconstitute. Perfect for travel, emergencies, and high-lipase milk (freeze-drying eliminates the soapy taste completely). HSA/FSA eligible.
⚠️ High Lipase Alert: About 1 in 5 moms have high lipase activity — an enzyme that makes stored milk taste soapy or metallic. Baby may refuse it. The traditional fix is scalding before storing, but

Babyganics Foaming Bottle & Dish Soap — You'll go through 2-3 bottles a month but it's the best for cleaning pump parts and bottles. Plant-based, cuts through milk residue, and the foam makes quick washes easy.
🤱 Nursing & Pumping Comfort
Boobie Ice Packs (Breast-Shaped) — A LIFESAVER for the first 6 weeks of breastfeeding. Slip them into your bra for instant relief from engorgement and soreness. Real talk: skip the nipple creams — they just prolong the cracking. These ice packs soothe AND help dry out nipples faster. Buy them for every pregnant person you know.
💡 Unpopular opinion: Skip the breastfeeding pillows. Boppy and My Brest Friend are bulky and you won't carry them around the house. Just use nice throw pillows you already have. Save the money and the closet space.
🥣 Starting Solids (4-12 Months)
Bumbo Floor Seat — Skip the high chair for the first year. The Bumbo saves space, is easy to clean, and works from about 4-12 months. Then transition to a proper high chair or portable one.
Ingenuity Portable High Chair — Take it anywhere or use at home. Easy to clean. Put a splat mat underneath for sanity. This is the high chair stage 2 after the Bumbo.
Glass Baby Food Containers (Amazon) — Use these to make your own baby food and store. Microwave safe, dishwasher safe, and you can see what's inside. Way cheaper than buying pre-made baby food long-term.
Mushie Baby Feeding Utensils, Snack Cups, Bibs — The cutest AND most functional baby feeding gear on the market. The silicone bibs with the catch-all pocket are genius. The snack cups prevent spills. Everything comes in beautiful muted colors.
